A veteran’s ability to recover, stabilize, upskill, and reintegrate can be directly affected by what is happening within the family. VRC recognizes that supporting the veteran may also mean addressing the needs and challenges affecting the military family.
Supporting the Veteran Means Supporting the Family
Housing, finances, employment, caregiving, transportation, and other family pressures can directly affect a veteran’s ability to move forward. VRC works with veterans and military families to understand the full situation, identify priorities, and coordinate practical next steps.
When appropriate, a VRC case manager can help connect the family with available resources, coordinate assistance, and address immediate needs as part of the veteran’s larger plan for long-term stability.
Every family’s circumstances are different. VRC approaches each case individually, with the goal of strengthening the veteran, the family, and the path forward together.

Who is considered a military family?
VRC recognizes that a veteran’s recovery and stability can directly affect the entire household. Spouses, dependents, caregivers, and other family members may be included in the veteran’s case when their needs are directly connected to the veteran’s recovery plan. Eligibility for direct assistance may vary based on the individual platform or funding source.
Can a family member contact VRC?
Yes. A spouse, caregiver, or other family member may contact VRC on behalf of a veteran to explain the situation and help begin the process. Whenever possible, the veteran will be included in the assessment and development of the case plan.
Is family support separate from veteran support?
Not necessarily. VRC looks at the full circumstances affecting the veteran. When housing, finances, caregiving, transportation, employment, or other family needs affect the veteran’s ability to recover, stabilize, upskill, or reintegrate, those needs may become part of the overall plan when appropriate and allowable.
